industry that will be sustainable for the next 100 years.”
Father Didier t'Serstevens (Korean name: Ji Jeonghwan) from Belgium, who arrived in Korea as the provost of Imsil Catholic Church, started the Imsil Cheese business in 1964 with just two mountain goats. It has now become a flourishing business owing to the Imsil Cheese & Food Research Institute.
The Korean local cheese / dairy industry faces greater challenges in recent times due to FTA agreements between Korea and other countries. However, the Imsil Cheese & Food Research Institute has established an integral cooperation system among industry, academia, research institutes, government, and private sector to strengthen its research capacity. Through the development of various products and technology commercialization, our institute will strive to promote growth and development for the Imsil Cheese business, which is a core business of Imsil County.
